Pat Death Summer Series Rnd 1:
Haslett Sand Pit
Thankyou to Glenn, once again, for the use of his land for the 1st round of our Summer Series. The weather was also kind to us! Well done to Calvin for setting this trial that was full of nadgery, tight & twisting turns that took points off everyone. I saw Calvin smiling whenever anyone's feet went down! We would like to welcome newcomer Bret Coyne who took the win in the Novice Class by one point - It proved to be a silly mistake at Sec 1 where Wayne Brodie missed the penultimate gate on what otherwise would have been a clean. (Calvin is now laughing). Nick Symes took control of the Twinshock class losing just 5 points. It was good to see the return of Ben Gourley in his 1st time out this year with a confident ride. Jos Wright (Yth Expert) B.Penn (Yth Novice) and Harvey Grieve (Yth Beg) all rode really well to take wins in their respective Classes. Matt Power appears to be gaining confidence every time I see him ride - well done Matt keep up the good work. The Club would like to wish Jos Wright a speedy recovery after an unfortunate crash near Sec 6. I understand there is nothing broken but he has a full leg bandage & he's already bored!!

Wight two day Day 1:

A good day today, great trial thanks to the course setters for all your hard work cutting trees etc & of course the Morgan family for the use of such a great venue.
Downend Cup:
Newbarn Farm
Many thanks must go to Chris Spence for allowing us to trial on his Farm, its an excellent venue, much appreciated. Thanks also to Andy Ryall for setting the sections. With one eye on the weather forecast he set a challenging but sensible course - well done Andy. The club would like to welcome two newcomers - Youngsters Charlie & Bertie Adkins, this was their first time at a trial. We hope they enjoyed the experience & look forward to seeing them gain confidence at future events - well done. Simon Newnham (expert), Rory Stephens (inter) & Stuart Freeman (twin shock) all rode blinders to take the wins in their respective classes - great effort. Young Jos Wright is clearly enjoying his new machine, taking his 4th win in a row in the Youth Expert Class, on today's greasy & tricky course. Meanwhile Harvey Grieve (Yth Beg) is also taking charge of his class winning his last 3 outings - good effort.
Jeffries Cup:
Apse Down
Today's trial proved to be a great day out at a fantastic venue - We are all very gratefull for the use of this piece of land. Many thanks must go to Joe Elford, who set this trial with no help! - Brilliant job Joe. Thanks also to Calvin for setting the D & E routes and the observers, on sec 2 & 3, George & Rob Richards - much appreciated. A great battle developed in the Expert class with just 1 point between the three riders. It was only after consulting the hanbook that 2nd & 3rd places were determined leaving Becky clear to take the win. Jos Wright had a fantastic ride in the Youth Expert class losing just 28 for the day. I think I lost that many just trying to get back from sections 7 & 8!!! Some of the result sheets took some time to decipher but I am confident they are accurate - however if you think I have made a mistake then please contact me, asap, so I can make any amendments. The club would also like to wish young Jacob Furnell a speedy recovery after breaking a bone in his hand - we look forward to seeing him back soon.
Novice & Expert Cup - AMENDED:
Shorwell Chalk Pit
With the kind permission from Ralph, we were able to hold our second trial of the year - Thanks Ralph, much appreciated. The closest battles were in the Youth S/W & Expert classes. in the Youth S/W both Harvey & Jacob were very close, but it turned out to be an unfortunate 5 for Jacob at section 4 that separated the two to secure Harvey's 1st win of the season. Newcommer W. Earley showed good determination taking part in his first trial - good effort. Young Dylan Wright should also be very pleased with his performance on what proved to be a tricky & greasy course. Chris Stay narrowly beat his old time rival George Gosden by just 4 points, helped by a brilliant ride on the difficult hill climb at section 2 on his 1st lap. Appologies to any riders on section 5, it appears Iv'e blown a crankcase seal which produced a rather dense smoke screen as I struggled back to the van!
Mercury Cup:
Haslett Sand Pit
With big thanks to Glenn, who as ever, allowed us to trial at his Sand Pit (at very short notice) & Calvin who kindly braved the weather to set out the sections in the morning - good effort, we were finally able to hold our 1st trial of 2014. The entry was low - but these riders are made of strong stuff! The two riders that impressed the most in these testing conditions were of course Nick Symes, for a miserly 4 & young Jos Wright in the Youth Expert class scoring just 39 - Well done Jos.

Unfortunately not many riders finished 7 or more events this year. The Intermediate class was well contested. Congratulations to Will West for winning the championship.
