Mercury Cup:

Haslett Sand Pit

View ResultsUploaded 12 years ago

With big thanks to Glenn, who as ever, allowed us to trial at his Sand Pit (at very short notice) & Calvin who kindly braved the weather to set out the sections in the morning - good effort, we were finally able to hold our 1st trial of 2014. The entry was low - but these riders are made of strong stuff! The two riders that impressed the most in these testing conditions were of course Nick Symes, for a miserly 4 & young Jos Wright in the Youth Expert class scoring just 39 - Well done Jos.

Thanks to Glen Draper for allowing us to use this excellent venue once again, also thanks to Andy Ryall and Calvin Wright for setting a fantastic trial.

Thanks to The Gustars for doing a brilliant job of organising things and helping out.

There was some fantastic riding today, notably from Tom Read loosing just 8 marks in the uncontested youth novice class, beating the 11 dabs of Tony Read who took the top spot in the novice class. Pete Carr made a return to real motorbikes in his own spectacular and slightly scary to watch way, and Nigel Crouch put in a fantastic effort to finish on a very good score of 43 to taking third place in the popular twin-shock class.

Thanks to Trevor Strickland for the use of this superb venue, and thanks to the course setters Alan Gosden and Calvin Wright, with helpers.

The clubman class was the closest fought on the day where, after bending his bike on a tricky ending to section 3 a regular winner Dave Barnes had to settle for second on this occasion loosing out by just two marks to an excellent ride from Andy Scott-Jackson.

Simon Newnham and Wayne Brodie both took convincing wins in the intermediate and novice class respectively.

Joss Wright managed had a fantastic ride to gain a score of 40 in the uncontested youth clubman class.
