New Year Shield Trial:
Sweetwater Brook
Thanks to the land owner, the observers and Kev Percy with assistants for providing a brilliant Trial,
Lots of class changes for many riders providing a few surprising results, such as Alan Stay beating class regulars Will West and Rory Stephens to claim second intermediate behind Ross Haydon. Another notable result goes to Dave Barnes achieving a win in his first venture into the clubman class, followed by Gordon West in second.
Father & Son Boxing Day Trial:
Shorewell Chalk Pit
An excellent trial in a fantastic venue, thanks go to Nick Symes and assistance for the course setting and of course Ralph Cook for allowing us the use of the venue.
I'm afraid the results are not complete as I require a few more of the punch cards, or I might have lost them. The scores I don't have are for:
P. BALDWIN, A. GOSDEN, S. BALDWIN,
If you have the punch-card, know you score or retired could you please let me (Joe) know so I can update the results as soon as possible, thanks.
Duver Cup Trial:
Haslett Sand Pit
Another good trial, no rain this time but a bracing wind. A good turn out, especially in the Novice class, which is good to see. Thanks to Alan and Chris Stay for setting some challenging and interesting sections. Rory Stephens had a lonely ride in the Inter class to take the win. Simon Newnham had a close win in Clubman from Ben and Jon Read. Nick Symes was the clear winner in the Twinshock class from Steve Wood and John Townsend. The Novice class saw a tie on points for first place, with Dave Barnes taking the win having 30 cleans to Vince Richardsons 26 cleans. Jordan Richardson took third place with Calvin Wright and Wayne Brodie close behind. Ellie Attrill won the Youth Novice class from Jos Wright, B. Lucas won Youth U/80 and Matt Power won the Youth Beginer class. Many thanks to Glen Draper for the use of the fine venue. Finally, if there are any errors in the results please contact Steve Wood.
Ted Phillips Cup:
Shorwell Chalk Pit
A proper trial! Wind, rain, mud, no grip!! An enjoyable day with some challenging sections, which saw a few retirements along the way. Good to see some D route riders moving up to ride the C route, not one of the easiest trials to try the C route! Ross Haydon had a comfortable win in Intermediate, as did Simon Newnham in Clubman, although it was much closer for 2nd place, with Gordon West narrowly getting it by 2 marks. Nick Symes had another good ride to win the steadily growing Twinshock class. Vince Richardson had a good win in the Novice, but Dave Barnes is getting closer all the time! Jos Wright took the Y/BEG class with Ellie Attrill close behind, and Paul Kent had a lonely ride in the Adult Beg class and took the win. Many thanks to Simon Newnham and helpers John Townsend and Steve Wood for setting the main trial, and Ray Power for setting the D route. Also a big thankyou to Ralph Cook for the superb venue.
Matt Russell Trial:
Nodewell Farm
Thanks to Nigel and Ross for working into the dark setting this excellent trial, and of course many thanks to the Morgans for allowing us to use the venue.
There where 8 very enjoyable (some suspiciously slippery) sections, and the weather was good throughout the day, Sandra and Matt Power have the outstanding scores this weekend Matt losing only one dab, and Sandra surpassing that with a perfect result.
Guy Fawkes Cup:
Haslett Sandpit
Thanks to Stewart Freeman, Calvin Wright and everyone else who helped with the course setting, and of course thanks to Glen Draper for allowing us to use the sand pit.
Unfortunately I forgot to pick up the signing on form when I left, if I have put you down as the wrong class just let me know and I will make amendments when I have time.
Thanks, Joe
Frank Pragnell Cup:
Knighton Sand Pit
There where lots of low scores in last weekends trial, and a perfect result for Nick Symes was the best of the day. Thanks to Andy Ryall for setting an enjoyable trial and anyone else who helped out, and of course the Morgans for the use of a brilliant venue.
